He was born in Payson, Utah, lived in Mapleton, Utah and moved to Ogden at age 13, and is a 31 year resident of Riverdale.

Educated: Nebo School District, Ogden City Schools and Weber State University.

Along with his Mayor's duties he is currently a Chaplain for Alpine Hospice. He was formerly employed at Utah Power as a Senior Drafter with 23 years of service (he accepted an early retirement in March of 2001).

Has been married to the former Cherie Allen for 31 years, they have 3 children, Mike 29 Working for Arkona Software in Salt Lake, Cathy 27 Married to Garrett Wall and Teaching at Midland Elementary in Roy, Tami 25 is working full time at the I.R.S. service center in Ogden.
Bruce has 6 children, Robert, Richard, Randy, Kris, Ryan and Reese, and 13 Grandchildren, from a previous marriage, most living in Ohio.

He served for two terms on the City Council and is in his 2nd term as Mayor.

Other local work that benefits Riverdale includes:

• He currently serves as the Wasatch Front Regional Council's, Regional Growth Committee Chairman, as well as a member of the full council.
• He is also the Chairman of Weber Area Council of Governments (all Weber County Mayors and County Commissioners).
• He also serves on the following Boards:
  • Central Weber Sewer Board of Trustees.
  • 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Center Governing Board.
  • The Utah League of Cities and Towns Legislative Policy Committee.
  • Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce and the Weber Economic Development advisory Board.
• He was appointed by Governor Huntsman in 2007 to the MIDA (Military Installation Development Authority) where he still serves.
