UTILITY BILLING NOTICE (01/06/2019):
Due to an error on the part of the City’s vendor, the Riverdale City utility bills (water, sewage, and garbage) that were recently mailed out are for November’s billing period rather than January’s. In an effort to minimize the negative impact associated with this oversight, the City will send out new utility bills as soon as possible. This error will only impact those customers who receive and pay from the paper statements. Customer accounts who utilize the City’s equal pay or pay through Xpress Bill Pay will not be impacted be this error.
the direction of the Public Works Department, the City of Riverdale
maintains its own water system. This includes the supply of drinking
water to City residents and the maintenance of water lines, wells, and
storage tanks. In the near future this page will contain information
of source water protection zones, backflow prevention, and facts about
our water system. If you have any questions, please contact our acting Public

UTILITY RATE ADJUSTMENT
During the 2016 Utah Legislative Session, a new law was passed that requires all retailer water providers to establish a culinary water rate structure that has increasing blocks of water or in simpler terms, a tiered water rate. For the city to meet this new State Law, a restructuring of the city’s water rates was necessary. In connection with this restructuring, the water rates were also increased to help provide for the continuing operations, maintenance, and capital projects within the water fund. The new rates went into effect on July 1, 2016.
The new residential water rates for a ¾” line (most common) are as follows:
- Culinary Water Base Rate: $15.10 – no water is included in the base rate.
- From 0 to 15,000 gallons of water usage the rate is $0.25 per thousand gallons.
- From 15,001 to 30,000 gallons of water usage the rate is $1.00 per thousand gallons.
- Over 30,001 gallons of water usage the rate is $1.50 per thousand gallons

The Riverdale Public Works Department is currently working on a five year program to upgrade Riverdale City’s water meters to a remote read system. Riverdale City employees will be doing the installations. The work will include putting an antenna in the lid of the meter box and installing a new meter. The installation will require that your water is shut off for approximately ten minutes. An employee will notify the resident before turning the water off. The new system will enable us to more accurately detect leaks and have the ability to read meters year round. If you have questions or concerns contact the Public Works Department at 801-394-5541 ext.1201.
