RIVERDALE CITY RECREATION

The Riverdale City Recreation Department oversees a variety of programs for the residents of Riverdale. Below is a list of current and upcoming events.

GYM SCHEDULE
The Community Center schedule for the gym is now online through our registration site. The schedule will allow residents to know when “open play” is available for the gym and what other activities are taking place.

BOYS BASKETBALL REGISTRATION
Boys basketball registration is now taking place for the Boys 3rd-6th grades and 7th-9th grades and will go from November 1st – November 30th. 

The cost is $25 for Riverdale residents. Cost does not include a jersey. If you already have a jersey from a previous year, a new jersey is not required. Otherwise, you need to purchase a new jersey for $10.  Each grade division can register online at www.riverdalecity.com or at the Community Center, 4360 S. Parker Drive. For more information please call the Community Center at 801-621-6084.

High school boys basketball (10th-12th grades) Team Registration. November 1st - December 30th. This age group will register as a team with the cost being $250 per team. If not paid in full by end of registration there will be a $25 late fee added. All players must have current student identification card from their high school. Coaches or captains can register online but must complete a roster with parent signatures and submit to the Riverdale Community Center. Parents must sign for students under the age of 18. Coach needs to be at least 21. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting.

Volunteer coaches are needed!  Parents, PLEASE volunteer to coach when you register your youth.  A background check is required for all coaches.

INTRAMURALS
Our next Intramurals activity is Broomball. Sign ups will begin on November 5th  and the session runs from November 12th  to December 13th . It is open to youth ages 6-12. The cost for this activity is $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents.  You can register online at www.riverdalecity.com or at the Riverdale Community Center. GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
Our current session of Group Fitness classes include PIYO, Total Body, and a new class called Barre Brawl. This new class includes strength moves and kickboxing.

OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL
Mondays: 10:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Thursdays: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Fridays: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There will be no Pickleball held on October 30 and November 22 & 23.

HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS PE CLASS
This class is for students that are home-schooled and don’t have the opportunity to have a PE class. This class is for 1 hour each week, and we will be doing different activities and sports. YOUTH BASKETBALL
Youth Basketball for 1st & 2nd grade coed and 3rd-9th grade girls is now underway.

RIVERDALE CONNECTIONS
Riverdale Connections is a monthly publication that is put together by the Community Services Department with information about the Community Center and Senior Center programs.  To pick up a free copy please visit the Community Center or Senior Center or to view a copy online click here.

NEW GAME ROOM
The Community center is pleased to announce that we have added a new game room to the facility. The former Executive Room was an underutilized space and is now being used as a game room. The room offers foosball, air hockey, and ping pong. The game room is included with the entrance fee ($1 for residents, $2 for non-residents). To view a flyer click here.

OPEN COURT BASKETBALL
The Community Center has made a change to the afternoon and evening open court basketball time. When the courts are available, the east side of the gym will now be available for team play, while the west side will be reserved for individual players. Full court games will not be allowed during this time. To view a weekly schedule of open court availability click here.

ROY COMPLEX DISCOUNT OFFER
As a benefit to residents, the city will pay half of the cost of a discounted non-resident pass to the Roy Complex. The passes can only be purchased at the Riverdale Community Center, 4360 Parker Drive. For questions call 801-621-6084 or click here.

TENNIS COURTS INCLUDE PICKLEBALL
The tennis courts in Riverdale Park were resurfaced and now include lines for pickleball. Pickleball is a fast growing sport that is a cross between badminton and tennis. The courts are open to the public for tennis and pickleball during park hours and are available on a first come first serve basis. (Courts may be closed during the winter months.)
