Filing timeframe for Declaration of Candidacy
July 1 - July 15, 2011: A declaration of Candidacy must be received in the City Recorder's office no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 15th. Click here for the form.
Election Dates
Primary Election date - September 13, 2011 (if necessary*)
*Filings for each office must exceed twice the number of candidates to be elected in order to hold a Primary Election.
Write-In Filing Deadline: November 8, 2011. To become a valid write-in candidate, a person must file a Declaration of Candidacy form with the City Recorder not later than thirty days before the November election. The candidate must also qualify all the requirements of the office.
General Election date - November 8, 2011
Declarations of Candidacy qualifications are (Per UCA 20A-9-203):
(1) be a United States citizen at the time of filing;
(2) be at least 18 years old at the time of the next municipal election;
(3) be a resident of Riverdale City or a resident of an area recently annexed into Riverdale City for a period of 365 consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election;
(4) be a registered voter of Riverdale City;
(5) Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.

To vote, a citizen must be a registered
voter. To register to vote in
Utah, you must:

Be a US Citizen;

Be a resident of Utah (primary residence) for 30 days immediately
before the next election; and
·
Be at least 18 years of age on or before the next election.
