COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)
Riverdale City is committed to educating it's citizens in emergency and disaster preparedness.
We realize that positive citizen involvement during a disaster will greatly help the community and it's people should the situation arise.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program provides the community with information about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and educates them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire response, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, and disaster medical operations. The training is divided into two sections: an online portion and a classroom hands-on portion.
The online training is free but is to be followed up by an in-person, hands-on, classroom practical skills application with instructors. There is a $35.00 fee associated with the hands-on portion of the course, which helps to cover the cost of your protective equipment and other class expenses.
This program is well established nationwide and has been adopted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Trained CERT member's have been instrumental in assisting public safety personnel during various disaster's throughout the country.
We encourage persons in our community to participate in this program.
