Candidate for Mayor: Braden D. Mitchell
I have lived in Riverdale for 25 years. After serving as the Chairperson for the Planning Commission, I was elected to the City Council and have served for 10 years. During this time, I have given dedicated service and currently serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Riverdale has added new housing developments as well as many new business developments. We have struggled through wildfires, floods, and a pandemic. We have overcome many other challenges. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable knowledge about listening to the residents, following ordinances, and finding the best solutions. I have lived in several neighborhoods within Riverdale and have an understanding and an appreciation of the citizens and their different views. I am interested in balancing the need for commercial development and tax revenue with the needs of the resident population. The coming years will bring changes to the tax code and significant challenges to Riverdale. We have already started planning for these challenges, and we are working with the Utah League of Cities and Towns as well as state legislators to find solutions. I will put all my energy into making sure that Riverdale is the best place to live, work, recreate, and shop.
